Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design’s Degree Show 2018
Some images from Camassia’s show – ‘The mechanics of Considered Cartography’
Residing in rural North-East Fife, Camassia has always been drawing. She uses this area of Scotland as a trigger to her drawing process, finding a beautiful variation in the naturally occurring patterns and contours found in such a landscape. It is the transfer of this fascination which creates a layered detail of colour found within her work.
A recent graduate of Dundee’s Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, the combination of drawing and cartography is a form which she has been actively pursuing. Camassia considers maps to be artistic forms and it is this broad theory which helps to scope her work, placing it in unusual territory. It is, therefore, a cross-over of grounds that her work is set in, and much reminiscent of the actual land that she has set out to capture through her own practice of art.
